Nikki Blonsky still in touch with Amanda

In an interview with Broadway.com, Nikki Blonsky, currently making her New York debut on Broadway in Love Loss and What I Wore, mentioned that she is still in touch with her Hairspray costars, including Amanda.

Were you upset that plans for a Hairspray sequel were scrapped?

I love Hairspray so much. It’s just magical to me. I would just die to work with John Travolta again. We’re very close, and I still speak to him all the time. Same with Amanda Bynes and Zac Efron, which I know girls will like to hear. It was such a fun, life-changing experience for all of us.

Maybe she can convince Amanda to make a comeback?!

While nothing going forward, let's go back

While Amanda isn't moving forward with anything yet, I decided to use this blog to remind everyone (fans, critics, maybe even Amanda herself) how awesome, amazing, and talented she is. Here is one of my absolute favorite moments starring Amanda ever, a clip of her singing You Can't Stop the Beat in Hairspray!

This moment in the movie made me sit up and take notice, and realize again how special Ms. Amanda is!

Side note, Hairspray 2 is not happening according to director Adam Shankman himself. Who needs a sequel when the original is made up of great moments like this one?

Comment or tweet me your favorite Amanda moments, and we will feature them!

Hairspray DVD sales update

For the week of January 6, 2008 Hairspray on DVD ended its run in the top 30 and has sold over 4,350,000 copies and made over $84,676,011. Add in the $200 million to movie made worldwide at the box office and over $35 million in rentals (where it's still in the top 50), and Hairspray is a giant sized hit with over $319 million in total revenue! You really can't stop the beat.

A note:

If you take any information or pictures for your site please credit me! I have come across many Amanda sites for a while now who are just copying and pasting my updates and changing one or two words. That is essentially plagarism and stealing and I don't appreciate it. If I find this happening again your site will go up on the Wall of Shame and if you have something say about it I'm not going to listen because I've already asked nicely several times. There's no reason we can all share and there's room for everyone. Thank you.

Next project delayed by writer's strike

As expected, Amanda has announced that her next project has been delayed by the strike, reported by LA Daily News:

"The strike is affecting me," she said. "I had a few projects in the works and they were sort of stopped dead in their tracks. But I've taken it as a time to play with my puppy and just relax because once it is over, I think everything is going to come back strong. I hope!"

She also detailed why she was so happy to be a part of Hairspray.

"The reason I wanted to be in this movie so badly is because it has such a great message to send to kids," she said. "It's a wonderful movie that families can watch together. It's a movie about accepting yourself and accepting others for their differences and it's just got great music. I feel very lucky to be in it."

"I was lucky to be in this ensemble," she said. "To be with Queen Latifah and Christopher Walken, Michelle Pfeiffer, Allison Janney and John Travolta, I look up to all those actors. So I got to learn a lot and I got to work with Adam Shankman, who is such a talented, amazing director. I felt so blessed."

Amanda one of 2007's best musical moments

City Beat has named Amanda as part of one of their bust musical moments of 2007:

...All the amazing supporting performances were sadly overshadowed. At least in the marketing of the film. And so it was a pleasure to be legitimately bowled over by the strong work of Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes and James Marsden. Bynes, in particular, could be someone to watch as the movie musical continues its renaissance. Hairspray uncovered enough talent and screen presence to warrant a leading-player part, and soon.

What do you think, would you like to see Amanda in another musical?
