Amanda Bynes sets the record straight

For the record, Amanda Bynes has NOT retired and has no regrets for publicity she's received over her Twitter account.



She told People Magazine at the MTV Movie Awards:

"You say what you feel because you felt it at the moment."

"It's sort of like what I would tell a reporter if I were doing an interview," Bynes says. "You kind of have to let people know a little bit about you. And once you've been in the business for a long time, people kind of know stuff about your life."

Amanda also clarified her decision to take a break from Hollywood.

"I really just needed some time off. I've been acting since I was seven, and I'm 25 now. So, it's not retiring so much. It's just taking some time off."

Easy A director on Amanda's retirement

Easy A director Will Gluck spoke to Movieline about the film and offered his insight on Amanda'a retirement.

Easy A is the last film Amanda Bynes made before her retirement announcement. Did that surprise you?

The stock answer I’m giving on that is…well, you know that she’s unretired, right? It actually speaks to the movie a little bit, that there’s all this text messaging and one thing you say can get out instantly. I think it wouldn’t have been a story two years ago when no one tweeted about anything, but now that everything’s broadcast, stuff that shouldn’t really become a story does become a story. I don’t think she’s going to retire. That’s the thing about this: I tried to make a John Hughes movie — and with all due respect, I know I didn’t come close to making one of his movies — and then you add in the internet, the social networking, the “every thought we have is broadcast” society that we live in, and every decision that you make now is much more magnified.

He also stated that the movie was toned down from an origianl R rating to a more audience appealing PG-13 and about how he feels that the internet can be a poisonous place. You can read the interview here.

Comingsoon.net has posted an interview with Amanda from the set of Easy A. It's a great read, although it does look like part of a previous interview was reused. Nonetheless, it's great to read something from Amanda in more than 140 characters. :)

Q: Is Marianne the role you originally went out for?

Bynes: I never tried out, so they gave me this role.

Q: Do you identify with anything about the character?

Bynes: Not really. I'm not judgmental. I live and let live. I don't judge others and I don't want others to judge me so I figure it's good karma not to judge others. Actually, I don't really relate to her at all but I've met girls who are evil and try to cut you down so I can draw from experience for sure. But what's funny is she is a virgin and yet she wears these sort of vampy clothes that are trying to be conservative but are still sort of pushing the envelope. I do know girls that are so virginal yet dress like... big tramps [we laugh]. It's been really fun so far. The cast is amazing...It's been a great experience.

Examiner asks Amanda what makes a beauty icon

Examiner has a new interview with Amanda where they ask her about style.

If you weren't acting, what would you want to be doing?

I would either be a psychiatrist, makeup artist or a fashion designer. I love figuring out why people are they way they are and why they do the things they do, so psychology has always fascinated me. I love making people feel pretty so being a makeup artist would be so fun for me, and I love everything about fashion so designing clothes is a real treat!

How do you feel about girls viewing you as their beauty icon?

I feel really honored! I have had many beauty icon's growing up so I appreciate anyone viewing me as theirs!! I say being happy and a good person makes you a beauty icon!

Teen Television caught up with Amanda on the set of Easy A today! In this short Q&A Amanda talks jealous girls, fitting in, her experiences so far on the set of Easy A, and whether she's involved in Hairspray 2!

TeenHollywood: Are you in Footloose?

Amanda: I'm not in it. But it's okay, I'm doing Hairspray 2 so no problem. I can't give any information but it's being written.

TeenHollywood: Are you all having fun and becoming friends on the Easy A set here? It looks like you are having fun kicking back and working together.

Amanda: Yeah, we're having a great time. It's a fun, young cast and I got to work with Lisa Kudrow who I'm a huge fan of and it's great, Patricia Clarkson, Thomas Hayden Church, Stanley Tucci. It's amazing. We have such a great script and Screen Gems is amazing so I'm really happy. So far, it's been extremely fun. We've been bonding, hanging out and having a really good time.

TeenHollywood: Did you have a "normal" high school experience or were you home-schooled?

Amanda: I went to high school and I also home-schooled. I was in and out because I was doing shows so I would do school on set but, because I'm very social and I liked being around my friends, I would make both work.

TeenHollywood: Did you have a "mean girl" experience in high school?

Amanda: Yeah. I did. There were some girls who were jealous and mean. But, I was really shy when I was in high school because I was getting so much attention [working] that when I was in school, I really didn't want it because I wanted to fit in and have friends. I didn't want people to think I thought I was that great so I sort of downplayed it. But, then I realized you have to be true to yourself and your friends will like you no matter what and it's cool.

Breaking the Cycle

Amanda is now part of a very important charity campaign called Break the Cycle, dedicated to ending teen dating violence.

Amanda speaks at Oscar De La Hoya Animo Charter High School.

As many as one in three teens will deal with physical, sexual, verbal, or emotional abuse in a relationship.

This is something Amanda herself has personally experienced, she revealed when speaking about her ex to Cosmopoliton magazine. "(He) ended up breaking my heart. I was so hurt. I’m a confident person, but it killed me."

As part of her involvement, Amanda will travel to high schools to speak to youth and raise awareness about the problem.

You can sign the online petition to encourage states to pass laws requiring middle and high schools to teach about healthy relationships.

Bynes is a lightweight drinker?

Former child star Amanda Bynes is a terrible drunk - she can't swallow a drop of alcohol without vomiting.

The 22-year-old actress may be old enough to legally drink in her native U.S. but admits she gets sick too quickly - so prefers to stay sober.

Bynes says, "I'm not a big drinker. I puke every single time I get drunk."

"On my birthday, I'll go out, but I'll probably not go out again until my next birthday, which is kind of depressing. I'm tired at night, and I don't have that energy."
