Just a quick update to congratulate Emma Stone on her first ever Golden Globe nomination as Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical for Easy A! She's up against some stiff competition, but being recognized and nominated is already a win, and dare I say it, an Easy A.

From Steve and Barry's to Fashion in Film

Amanda is participating in a new DVD documentary titled Starz Inside: Fashion in Film.



It features celebrities and designers talking about clothes in movies where they themselves, play a character. Malin Ackermen and Tyson Beckford also appear.

Atonement, Sex and the City, and The Devil Wears Prada are among the films being discussed. The focus is on how Hollywood fuels the fashion industry.

This is an Anchor Bay release with a suggessted retail price of $19.99.

It may be something worth missing. Here's a less than favorable review.

'Living Proof' on DVD May 5

Lifetime's Original Movie, the ensemble drama Living Proof, will be availible on DVD May 5th!

Amanda plays Jamie, a young assistant to Dr. Dennis Slamon, a man who developed the lifesaving drug Herception 2.

The movie originally aired in October.

Bonus features include two featurettes: For Life: The Journey of Dr. Dennis Slamon
and Hope and Miracles: The Making of Living Proof, as well as a commentary with screenwriter Vivienne Radkoff and philantropist Lilly Tartikoff.

Sydney White rental information

Sydney White debuted in the number 9 spot on the DVD rentals chart for the week of January 27, generating $6.21 million dollars. It's a pretty good opening with no promotion for the DVD and is actually more than the amount the movie opened with in theaters. The sales numbers aren't out yet, but I'll update you with those as soon as they are released.

Sydney White cost $16.5 million to make and only made a little under $12 million in theaters, but no doubt will become profitable on DVD.

Hairspray DVD sales update

For the week of January 6, 2008 Hairspray on DVD ended its run in the top 30 and has sold over 4,350,000 copies and made over $84,676,011. Add in the $200 million to movie made worldwide at the box office and over $35 million in rentals (where it's still in the top 50), and Hairspray is a giant sized hit with over $319 million in total revenue! You really can't stop the beat.

Hairspray #3 top selling DVD

According to The Numbers, Hairspray is the #3 selling DVD for the week ending November 25, moving over 1,600,000 copies and generating $32,288,652 in sales. It is just behind Live Free or Die Hard with about $35 million, and Shrek the Third which sold more units than Hairspray but totaled less in overall sales.

Hairspray also scored another $9.6 million in rentals for the week, according to Box Office Mojo.

WILAY Season One DVD Review

411manina.com has another good review for What I Like About You Season One.

I've done a variety of reviews on a number of teen-related shows during my time on 411mania. You might remember my reviews of The O.C. and Degrassi. I continue that tradition with my review of What I Like About You. Since I can remember, I've always had a certain fondness for teen drama. It's probably my favorite form of television. Where else can you see attractive people going through problems while pop music plays in the background? Plus, I think the teenage years are always interesting and complex. It's that complex period where you are forced to grow up in a hurry. If not, you might get left behind. That being said, I don't enjoy all teen drama. Some of it can be phony and fake. I can point to a number of MTV shows to prove my point. We need characters that are likable, interesting, and fun to be around.

Thankfully, What I Like About You features all of the above.

What I Like About You is aided by its fantastic ensemble cast. Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth have fantastic chemistry on screen together. Bynes is a skilled physical comic. If you haven't seen it already, I recommend that you check out She's the Man. It's a lot of fun.
