5. Dear By Amanda Bynes/Sydney White
Amanda realized one of her lifelong dreams when she was asked to design a line of apparel for Steve and Barry's. A few month's later, it's the fastest selling line at the store. Also, Amanda appeared in her first college comedy, Sydney White. Although it didn't set the box office on fire, fans enjoyed seeing Amanda's spin on the classic tale.
4. Awards
Finally, Amanda began to be recognized in Hollywood. This year, she took home Rising Star at the Turks and Caico's Film Festival and Us Weekly's Hot Hollywood Good Girl. She was also nominated and won awards as part of the ensemble cast of Hairspray.
3. Red Carpet Appearances
Amanda debuted new blonde hair throughout her many appearances on the red carpet this year. I wonder if she found that blondes do have more fun?
2. A Role Model
While other girls her age were driving drunk, checking in and out of rehab, going to jail, and forgetting to put on underwear, Amanda made it clear that she was drug and alcohol free and is keeping her eye on the prize...a long career.
1. Hairspray
Amanda made everyone sit up and pay attention when she made her musical debut as Penny Pingelton in Hairspray. She recieved some of the best reviews of her career, pulling double duty as an actress and a singer. The film was nominated for multiple awards including Best Picture at the Golden Globe and multiple nominations for Best Ensemble. Here's hoping projects like Hairspray are a glimpse into bigger suprises in 2008.
